I can understand liking manga or anime or video games or whatever, but some people really take it <br />overboard. <br /><br />And there are way too many foreigners who think that "otaku" is just the same thing as "nerd." In American, being a nerd has become more acceptable and even trendy in recent years, in Japan there is a social stigma associated with being "otaku."
